What is Roots & Shoots?

Roots creep underground everywhere and make a firm foundation. Shoots seem very weak, but to reach the light, they can break open brick walls. Imagine that the brick walls are all the problems we have inflicted on our planet. Hundreds of thousands of roots & shoots, hundreds of thousands of young people around the world, can break through these walls. We CAN change the world.

The Roots & Shoots program is about making positive change happen—for our communities, for animals and for the environment. With tens of thousands of young people in almost 100 countries, the Roots & Shoots network connects youth of all ages who share a desire to create a better world. Young people identify problems in their communities and take action. Through service projects, youth-led campaigns and an interactive website, Roots & Shoots members are making a difference across the globe.

Roots& Shoots Club

Ich bin in einem Club der Roots& Shoots heisst. Wir helfen den Tieren, der Welt und auch Menschen. An 22/11/08 war der Roots& Shoots Club bei einem Bazar. Wochen davor haben wir einen Kalender hergestellt. Den Kalender haben wir dann an dem Bazar mit noch anderen Sachen, wie T-Shirts und Stiften verkauft. Ich stand an dem Tisch von 12:00 bis 2:30 und habe die Sachen verkauft. Das Geld, das wir dann verdient haben, geht jetzt an das Tierheim hier in Peking, China. Der Club Roots& Shoots wurde von einer Frau gegruendet, die Jane Godall heißt. Sie war der erste Mensch, der mit Affen zusammengelebt hat und den die Affen akzeptiert haben. Sie hat viel ueber die Affen und ihr Verhalten erforscht. Spaeter hat sie sich fuer anddere Tiere, fuer die Umweltprobleme eingesetzt und Roots and Shoots gegruendet.

Am 5. Dezember gehen Mama und ich mit vielen anderen Leuten zu einem grossen Abendessen mit Jane Godell. Sie kommt dann auch noch im Dezember zu unserer Schule. Ich freue mich schon sehr.
